About
I'm Charron “C.J.” Matthews, a Product Designer based between Boston and NYC, open to commuting across both markets, relocation, and remote engagement. I work on ambiguous, system-shaped problems and ship calm, well-defended product experiences.

About sections
Where I focus
Complex platform UX, growth and conversion systems, internal tooling, and AI-accelerated product execution. Common thread: surfaces where the user is trying to make a high-stakes decision and the product needs to earn — not assume — their trust.
How I work
I start with the people doing the work — shadowing ops, reading support tickets, sitting in on weekly reviews. The most useful design decisions show up there, not in a Figma file. From that, I write the structure down before I draw it, then iterate against the constraints rather than around them.
What I care about
Restraint, governance, and the kind of motion you don't notice. The best products feel inevitable — every accent, every interaction, every default looks like it could not have been any other way. That is what I aim for, even when the underlying system is complicated.
Outside of work
I run two small businesses — Montclair Sports and DeuceGC — that double as my field test for product instincts. Founder work keeps me honest about the cost of every decision, which I bring back into employer and client work whether they know it or not.

Best fit for senior and staff product design work, especially platform UX, internal tools, and AI-accelerated product surfaces.
